Ingredients
  • 2 cups of raw papaya cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup cooked green whole mung
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 2 pods of garlic
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Seasoning:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 red chilly
  • Few mustard
  • 1 tsp Urud dal
  • Few curry leaves
Cuisine: Cooking time: 40 mins Serving: 4 people
Method:
  1. Grind the coconut, jeera, garlic, chilly powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves together without water into a coarse mixture.
  2. Add salt to the papaya pieces and steam them.
  3. Heat the Kadai and pour oil. Add Urud dal, mustard, red chilly. When the mustard splutters, add currry leaves and the cooked mung. Sauté for a minute and then add the steamed papaya pieces.
  4. Sauté for few minutes, then add the grounded coconut. Mix well and sauté for few more minutes. Switch off the flame.
Another variety of thoran making our meal interesting.
